According to three persons with knowledge of the situation, the Union cabinet approved on Wednesday the legislative revisions required to carry out the GST Council's resolution to ensure that 28% GST is paid on the entire value of money deposited by players for wagering on online games, casinos, and horse races.The government is now free to introduce revisions to the Central GST legislation in Parliament during the current session, which is open till Friday. To allow SGST legislation revisions to be approved in time for the revised taxation to take effect on October 1st, even state governments and 2 Union territories having Assemblies must do this.
