Southwest of Chicago in Illinois, the Harrah's Joliet was evacuated on Friday, June 30, after a maid allegedly found what they believed to be explosives in a guest room. Later, law enforcement discovered that the items were pyrotechnics of the commercial variety. Around noon on that day, the disaster forced the evacuation of the nearby hotel and riverboat casino. The property was cleared by a bomb team from the Cook County Sheriff's Office. Further commercial-grade fireworks were discovered by police in a vehicle registered to the person on the reservation that was parked in the casino's parking lot.
