Have you ever seen a friendship recover after a poker game gone wrong?

Poker spats and hurt feelings can often be mended once folks have cooled off and gained some perspective. Friendships are deeper than any one hand or pot, even if in the heat of the moment it might seem otherwise.

I've seen friends go at it hammer and tong during a marathon poker session, trading insults and threats like their lives depended on it. But come the next day, once the passion of competition had faded, they realized how foolish they'd been. Laughed it off, apologized for any harsh words, and promised to keep their rivalry confined to the table from then on.

Friendship and poker are two sides of the same coin really. The same qualities that draw people together - trust, loyalty, generosity - are the ones that should guide them at the table. It's only when those get misplaced that trouble starts. Once everyone remembers poker's meant as a fun social diversion, a chance for friendly competition, the friendships mend.
