Have you ever tried placing more bets on the numbers that hit more frequently?

I've noticed that certain numbers on the roulette wheel seem to hit more often than others over the short term. But I'm wary of trying to place more bets on those 'hot' numbers because eventually luck evens out and the wheel tends towards the mathematical probability over the long run.
