Unfortunately I have witnessed some cheating attempts at casinos over the years. A few instances stand out:
One time at a craps table, a player kept pressing the “come” button for the dice after they were rolled, trying to skew the outcome. The pit boss caught onto him after a few rolls and had him escorted out.
The most brazen attempt I saw was at a baccarat table. A player bent down to tie his shoe, but really smelled like he was replacing a card in the shoe. He then tried to casually drop more cards into the shoe from his pocket. The dealers saw right through it, called the manager over, and the whole table was shut down while they reviewed the footage. The cheater was arrested.
While not common, cheating does happen at casinos. The good news is there are many precautions in place, from cameras to trained staff, to deter and catch cheaters. But as a player, it’s always a good idea to remain vigilant, trust your instincts, and speak up if anything seems very suspicious. A fair game is in everyone’s best interest.
