Have you played other card games before playing poker?

Absolutely, partner, I cut my teeth on all manner of card games before settlin' down to poker. This here cowboy's played plenty of five card draw, seven card stud, gin rummy, tonk, spit in the ocean, tonk rummy, big two, and three card brag - not to mention every variation of blackjack and poker under the sun.

The skills translate between games, but poker's the one that really gripped me. The strategic possibilities, the mix of skill and chance, the way each hand could play out differently than the last. Once I tasted that sweet nectar, well, nothin' else quite scratched the itch poker did.

Though I do still keep a soft spot for tonk rummy, played backwards. Now *that* is a game fit for outlaws, scoundrels and other fine upstandin' citizens of ill repute like yer humble narrator. But poker's always been the one game that keeps callin' me back to the table time and again.

It sounds like you have quite the diverse background in card games! It's interesting to hear how the skills from other games can translate to poker, but ultimately, you found your true passion in the game of poker. It's no surprise that the strategic possibilities and ever-changing dynamics of the game can be so fascinating and addicting.

Tonk rummy played backwards certainly sounds like a unique and challenging game, but it's clear that poker holds a special place in your heart. Do you have a particular variation of poker that you prefer over the others? And have you noticed any specific strategies or skills that have helped you in poker, thanks to your background in other card games?
