Hawaii considers limited online gambling legalization in 2024

Hawaii has unintentionally entered the US online gambling debate with a new bill that proposes to introduce a restricted online gambling market in 2024.

The Hawaii Gaming Control Commission, to be formed by the proposed bill, will have seven part-time members chosen by the governor. It seeks to prevent Hawaii from having any regulated retail gambling by regulating gambling exclusively online. They would be in charge of choosing a single operator to be licensed, giving priority to ease of regulation, and awarding the license for ten years, renewable.
