How can a player avoid complacency?

Complacency is the casino’s greatest ally. When players get complacent, they start making careless mistakes and poor decisions. They believe the luck that is sustaining them will continue indefinitely. In reality, the odds always catch up and the house eventually wins.

To avoid complacency, I switch between games frequently, try different table limits, and take occasional breaks to walk around. This mental reset helps me reassess the game and my strategies. I also watch other successful players and try to emulate their approaches. No two hands or two trips to the casino are exactly the same.
Complacency creeps in without vigilance. The only way to guarantee losing is by becoming a complacent player. Staying alert, adapting to the circumstances, and maintaining a healthy skepticism of one’s abilities keeps complacency at bay and the wins coming. After all, the thrill of victory only exists because the possibility of defeat is always lurking. Complacency blinds players to that possibility until it’s too late.
