How can I identify smaller hands in my opponent's range?

Many inexperienced casino players believe small pairs are the weakest starting hands. However, skilled opponents can exploit this thinking by bluffing with seemingly weak holdings. So how can one identify the smallest possible hands an opponent may play from their typical betting range? Small connectors, odd suited cards, and lonely Aces can surprise the unwary. Look for patterns in raises and aggression that reveal hands with limited potential. If an opponent wagers large with holdings that usually fold early, consider they may target amateur assumptions about hand strength. Stay alert for such tricks by studying your opponents' entire range, not just the hands they show down.

If your opponent repeatedly min-bets or places modest bets, it may indicate that they have a weaker hand and are attempting to keep the pot small. Stronger hands are more likely to be accompanied with larger, more assertive bets.
