How do I analyze stats in a way that accounts for context?

I've been betting mostly by looking at raw stats like points per game, field goal percentage, rebounds etc. But I realized just looking at stats alone can be misleading without context like who the opponent was, the players on the court, injuries etc. What are some approaches to analyzing stats that take into account the full context to give a more accurate picture of a team's performance? I feel like context really matters for evaluating how repeatable a performance will be. Any tips would be much appreciated!
