A significant loss would seem to indicate that one should immediately stop gambling. But if that's the case, why do gamblers still place wagers even after losing? Even when they have a budget and time limit in place, problem gamblers struggle with knowing when to put an end to their gambling. The want to keep gambling promotes additional spending, which leads to the unavoidable outcome.
