When I first started learning the basic blackjack strategy a couple years ago, I spent many hours memorizing the different move combinations for all the dealer and player hands. But simply spending hours looking at the tables and trying to memorize everything did not stick in my memory very well. What really helped was practicing with a blackjack simulator and seeing the moves in action during actual hands of play. Within a couple weeks of regular practice, the main moves became second nature and I could recall them while playing live games at the casino. As a beginner, if you spend around 30 minutes a day studying, and another 30 minutes practicing with a simulator, it shouldn't take you more than 2-3 weeks to really have the basics memorized.
