The number of cards dealt to each player at the beginning of a hand in poker depends on the specific variation of the game being played. Here are the standard starting hand card distributions for some popular poker variants:
Texas Hold'em: In Texas Hold'em, each player is dealt two private cards, known as "hole cards" or "pocket cards," that are unique to them. These cards are dealt face down and are not shared with other players.
Omaha Hold'em: In Omaha Hold'em, each player is dealt four private cards face down. However, in the actual play, players must use exactly two of their hole cards in combination with three community cards to form the best hand.
Seven-Card Stud: In Seven-Card Stud, each player is initially dealt three cards, two face-down (hole cards) and one face-up (door card). The player with the lowest-ranking door card starts the betting. Throughout the hand, each player receives a total of seven cards, with four face-up and three face-down.
