How to return a lottery ticket?

There are so many people who engage in lottery. let's suppose if a person engages in lottery and then he realise that he no longer wants to participate in the lottery, then what steps he could take in order to return the lottery ticket and stop being a part of the lottery program altogether? What can a person do? Does he simply need to visit the lottery centre and return the lottery ticket?
