Identifying Hot and Cold Slots on the Casino Floor

Have you noticed that some slot machines seem "hotter" than others during a particular session? While casinos rightfully point out the randomness of slots, experienced players know there seems to be patterns of wins and losses for machines over short periods. What signs do you look for to identify potentially hot slots on the casino floor: higher credits paid out, larger crowds gathered, or loose handles/reels? I keep track of how frequently certain denominations hit jackpots, and try those machines first when I am hunting for a hot slot. What tricks do you use to spot the slot machines most likely to bring you the big wins?

Hot slots tend to be located in high-traffic areas, such as near the entrances and exits, or in popular areas of the casino. Cold slots are often found in less-trafficked areas, such as in the corners of the casino or near the restrooms.
