If the machines choose your winning number, your chances of winning might not be that high.

Perform your homework. You must determine whether your chosen numbers are a good combination for the lottery.
If the machines choose the number for you, your chances of winning might not be that good.
Keep in mind that there is an equal probability for every number to win.
Avoid picking random numbers. If the machines choose the number for you, your chances of winning might not be that good. The chances might not be on your side.

A lot of people usually use machines in order to choose numbers because they do not just want to waste time as you are not the one who is going to be in control of the outcome and as such there is no need to be wasting time.

You raise some interesting points, and I can understand why you might think that way. However, I want to address that every number has the same probability of being selected, so your odds are the same regardless of whether you pick your own numbers or have them chosen for you.
