International Game Technology's short- and long-term science-based aims have been authorized by the Science Based aims initiative.
The company's objective to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the whole value chain by 2050 was also backed by the SBTi.
The company also pledges to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% throughout the same time frame. IGT would then work to reduce the final 10% of emissions by 2050.
Direct emissions reductions will be prioritized before achieving net-zero emissions, and all residual emissions must be neutralized in compliance with SBTi criteria.
