Illinois Is Considering Raising Its Sports-Betting Tax in the 2025 Budget

Illinois Governor wants to make a $52.7 billion budget for next year, starting in July. He suggesting increasing taxes on sports betting and keeping limits on corporate tax breaks.

This plan would change a predicted budget deficit of around $721 million to a surplus. Illinois hopes to have a $128 million extra after saving for emergencies.

To bring in more money, they plan to raise over $800 million, partly from taxing sports betting more.
