Despite the seasonal dip in sports at the tail end of Q2, sportsbooks in Illinois made close to $55 million in revenue in June. According to information made public by the Illinois Gaming Board, operators received $665.8 million in handling for the first 30 days of June, an increase of 5.9% over the same period last year, as Illinois quietly established itself as one of the biggest sports betting markets in the United States. Operators had a hold rate of 8.2 percent in June, but this rate was also 2.6 points below the record 10.8% established in the preceding month of May and their lowest win percentage since February.
