Iowa Attorney General dismisses lawsuit filed by athletes over gambling probe

According to reports, athletes who were charged with placing illicit bets on sports in a major scandal have filed a lawsuit against the state, which the attorney general of Iowa is reportedly requesting be dismissed.

More than two dozen active and retired athletes are accused of placing unlawful bets following a betting investigation that began in September in Iowa. It was suspected that the athletes had placed the bets using other people's accounts. Some athletes had their eligibility temporarily revoked, while others were penalized.
