Iowa Gaming & Racing Commission approves construction of $275million Cedar Rapids casino project

Cedar Rapids will soon welcome a $275 million casino.

An application for slot machines, table games, and sports betting in Cedar Rapids was accepted by the Iowa Gaming & Racing Commission. The Cedar Crossing Casino & Entertainment Center, a $275 million project, will be constructed on 25 acres of city-owned property west of the Cedar River.

Despite two studies it commissioned that predicted at least half of its yearly gross gaming revenue—that is, net win from gamblers—would come at the expense of other casinos already operating, the state gaming agency approved the Cedar Crossing Casino project.
