Iowa State quarterback is charged with betting on football and other Cyclones games

In a criminal complaint including a misdemeanor allegation of tampering with records, Iowa State quarterback Hunter Dekkers was charged with placing bets in violation of state laws, NCAA rules, and university policies. The Cyclones' redshirt sophomore Dekkers, 22, started each of the team's 12 games last year and was anticipated to do so again this year. Under NCAA rules pertaining to student-athletes discovered to have bet on their own games or on other sports at their institutions, he might lose his collegiate eligibility permanently.
