Is it a good strategy to avoid playing middle strength starting hands?

Over the past few months, I have been raising my win-rate by being more selective with the starting hands I play. I now avoid middle strength hands like J-T suited or A-5 offsuit and only play strong premium hands or loose aggressive hands. Is this a good long term strategy to avoid making risky plays and focus more on value hands? I would love to hear from experienced poker players what has worked for them.

Your poker table position has a big impact on the hands you choose. It is normally advised to play fewer hands and concentrate on stronger holdings while you are in early position, where you act first in the betting rounds. Later positions, where you have greater knowledge of your opponents' moves, allow you to expand your range and think about playing some middle-strength hands.
