Yeah, the house always has the upper hand. But I've found that if you stick to games like blackjack and craps, and use perfect basic strategy, you can get that edge down pretty low. Not zero, but low enough that you can have a fun time without getting crushed. Key is knowing when to walk away, like you said. Chasing losses is a surefire way to lose it all.
