I have pondered the possibility of playing a solo game of Blackjack without the need for a live dealer. While the social aspect of competing against other players and conversing with the dealer enhances the experience, a solo version is feasible with some adjustments.
One establishes a fixed hand value for the “dealer”, such as 16-21, and generates a random number in that range for each player hand to determine if it wins, loses or pushes. Players use the same strategy for hitting, standing, doubling and splitting as in a standard game. The payouts for wins would remain the same.
Some of the thrill may be lost without seeing real cards being dealt and collected, but one could still enjoy an interesting solo match of strategy, make bets and experience victories or defeats at the personal gaming table. With some innovations, solo Blackjack can remain an entertaining pastime for those longing to play a hand.
