Is online poker a viable alternative to a traditional job?

Can online poker truly replace a normal job? For some talented players, yes, but for most it is a pipe dream. I have been grinding the tables for years, hoping to make it as a pro, yet rarely covering my expenses. The rake is too high, the fish too few, the variance too great. While exceptional players may ascend to high stakes, for every winner there are countless losers. Unless you are already profitably cutting edge, even decent players will find the life of a professional poker player unsustainable. The thrill of competition fades fast without financial security. Dreaming is free, but reality often demands a steadier paycheck.

You need to be committed to poker if you want to be successful. Playing poker online requires a lot of time and effort, and you need to be willing to put in the work to learn the game and improve your skills. If you are not willing to put in the effort, then you are unlikely to be successful

Online poker is not an alternative to primary job but a source of poverty. A person who rely heavily on online poker as his vocation is bound to be having financial problem. Because it is not everyday he would be winning and there is tendency of securing more losses in his bid to to have more winnings.
