That's a great question. When I think about how to test for true randomness in lottery numbers, a few things come to mind. One test would be to analyze the frequency of different numbers chosen over a long period of time. In a truly random system, we would expect each number 1 through N to appear with roughly equal probability. Tracking repeated sequences of numbers could also reveal non-random patterns. If certain sequences come up more often than statistically expected, that hints at a lack of randomness. Statistics and probability analysis can be useful tools to uncover unintended patterns and biases in purportedly "random" datasets. The real test, however, would be if skilled players could actually gain an edge by predicting future results- an indication that the lottery's random number generation process is imperfect.
