Japan government rejects proposal to establish Nagasaki casino

A plan to build a casino resort in the southwest Japanese prefecture of Nagasaki was rejected by the government on Wednesday due to concerns about the viability of the funding.

After an Osaka project of a similar nature was approved, the government began reviewing the plan for the so-called integrated resort in April.

In addition to a number of other requirements, such as obtaining a license, opening a casino in Japan requires government approval.
