Finland's Social Insurance Institution, or Kela, has released new information about social assistance and gambling winnings.
Under these new guidelines, Kela will consider net winnings when calculating social assistance instead of just looking at gambling winnings, as was the case under the previous guidelines.
By considering only gambling winnings as income, the revised guidelines aim to prevent people who receive social assistance from being placed in a precarious financial situation. This could result in their receiving less social assistance.
