Kenosha City officials delay vote on Hard Rock casino

The $360 million tribal casino resort was put up for vote, but the Kenosha City Council—formerly the Kenosha Common Council—decided on Monday to postpone voting.

Delaying voting on the casino proposal put forth by the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin in collaboration with Hard Rock International was decided upon by all city officials. The Seminole Tribe of Florida, one of the richest sovereign tribal nations in the United States, owns Hard Rock.

The Menominee Indian Tribe would not be required to pay property taxes since they would attempt to have the federal government recognize the 60 acres as sovereign territory.
