Kentucky records nearly 90% decrease in gambling crimes with new report

Kentucky opened its retail betting market at the beginning of September of last year. In the latter part of that same month, the state also formally opened up its online gambling industry. It is probable that those launches played a part in the notable decline in illegal gambling activity that was observed in 2023.

Six gambling-related offenses or crimes were reported last year, according to the Kentucky State Police report. In contrast to the 2022 data, which revealed 48 gambling-related offenses, this represented a remarkable 87.50% year-over-year decrease.
