KSA gauges public understanding of CRUKS 2.0

The Netherlands Gambling Authority, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has launched a 'pilot campaign' to increase public awareness of CRUKS, the Dutch gambling central self-exclusion register.

Pilot campaigns are underway on various social media platforms, educating audiences on the process of self-excluding from all Dutch licensed gambling operators through CRUKS.
CRUKS, managed by the KSA, was introduced on October 1, 2021, coinciding with the implementation of the Dutch government's Remote Gambling Act (KOA), which regulates online gambling services.

CRUKS allows gamblers in the Netherlands to "voluntarily take a break from gambling," preventing them from participating in legal online casinos and other gambling activities in the country for a minimum of 6months and up to ninety nine years.

In the first half of the year, KSA launched the updated CRUKS 2.0 register, simplifying the process of unsubscribing from gambling activities and incorporating an eight-day reflection period for those contemplating unsubscribing.

The pilot campaign launched by the Netherlands Gambling Authority, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), to increase public awareness of CRUKS, the Dutch gambling central self-exclusion register, is a commendable initiative.

By engaging with various social media platforms, the KSA aims to educate the public about the process of self-excluding from all Dutch licensed gambling operators through CRUKS. This campaign is crucial as it allows individuals to make informed decisions about their gambling habits and empowers them to take control of their well-being.

CRUKS was introduced on October 1, 2021, alongside the implementation of the Dutch government's Remote Gambling Act (KOA). This act, which regulates online gambling services, seeks to protect gamblers and ensure a safer gambling environment within the Netherlands.

Through CRUKS, gamblers in the Netherlands have the option to voluntarily take a break from gambling. By self-excluding, they can prevent themselves from participating in legal online casinos and other gambling activities in the country for a specified period of time, ranging from a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 99 years. This tool is an important measure to combat problem gambling and provide support to individuals who may be struggling.

The launch of CRUKS 2.0 earlier this year further enhanced the register by simplifying the process of unsubscribing from gambling activities. Introducing an eight-day reflection period for individuals considering unsubscribing is a thoughtful addition, as it allows users to thoroughly contemplate their decision and seek support if needed. This update demonstrates the commitment of the KSA to continuously improve its self-exclusion system and provide effective resources for responsible gambling.

Overall, the KSA's pilot campaign and the introduction of CRUKS are positive steps toward raising awareness about responsible gambling and providing individuals with the tools they need to protect themselves. It is crucial to continue promoting CRUKS and ensuring that all individuals who can benefit from it are aware of its existence and how to utilize it effectively.
