Labour suspends parliamentary candidate after being involved in betting scandal investigation

A party spokesperson announced that Labour has suspended a parliamentary candidate following notification that the Gambling Commission has opened an investigation against him.

The party has suspended the Labour candidate running in Central Suffolk and North Ipswich.

This comes after the prime minister earlier today withdrew support from two candidates in the general election over a dispute over bets.

The Prime Minister moved in response to growing pressure from within the party to adopt a more assertive stance regarding the purported use of insider knowledge to influence the July 4 election schedule.
