Landlords of Hawaii underground gambling hubs face harsher penalties

A recently passed law aims to take action against the illegal betting operations, which are still a major issue in the island state of Hawaii.

Until they took "no effort to prevent" rogue gambling from occurring or from continuing at their properties, landlords were shielded from prosecution under the previous law against charges of advancing gambling activity. The new law gives property owners more obligation to make sure their tenants aren't engaging in illicit activity.
