Last chance for US gambling expansion dies in Nebraska

Most likely, the Nebraska special session was the final chance to expand online casinos or digital wagering in the United States before 2024. For the first time since the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act was repealed in 2018, no state has approved sports betting.

Legal gambling would have been a major factor in Nebraska's reduction of property taxes. Funding for public education is derived from property taxes, unlike in other US states. When it comes to property taxes, Nebraska is ranked in the top 10 states in the US.
