Lawmakers in Iowa introduce bill seeking to criminalize proxy betting

Iowa MPs have proposed a bill for proxy betting and sharing of sportsbook accounts across the state.

In an attempt to protect the public from dishonest practices, the Iowa Department of Public Safety has put forward a Senate Study Bill that will classify proxy betting and account sharing as illegal forms of gambling. The bill has suggested to add the definitions of account sharing and proxy betting in Iowa's gambling sports and sports wagging rules. Account sharing and proxy betting is a violation of the Iowa law, resulting in a criminal punishment for the mentor who violates the rules of the state.

The proposed bill in Iowa aims to strengthen regulations by criminalizing proxy betting and sportsbook account sharing. The Iowa Department of Public Safety has introduced this measure to prevent fraudulent activities and ensure fair play. If passed, the law will officially define these practices as illegal, leading to criminal penalties for violators. By enforcing stricter rules, Iowa seeks to protect bettors and maintain the integrity of its gambling industry, aligning with responsible gaming principles and regulatory compliance.
