Lithuania parliament discusses reforms on gambling advertisements

On Monday, Lithuanian members of parliament filed changes to the nation's gambling legislation that would tighten advertising related to gambling even more by 2025.

About fifty members of parliament, primarily from the ruling majority, have signed the amendments that aim to outlaw the disclosure of information about gambling companies supporting any public events or activities, whether they be sponsored by natural or legal persons.

The amendments would outlaw the promotion of gambling, wagers, and casinos on television, in print media like newspapers and magazines, on news websites, or on billboards located on public property. It was prohibited for gambling operators to have their names or logos displayed on athlete jerseys or in arenas during live sporting events.
