Liverpool claim unwanted 12-year record with disappointing showing in Man City defeat

Liverpool had their fewest shots in a Premier League game for 11 years during their woeful defeat to Manchester City at the weekend.

Despite taking the lead through Mohamed Salah at the Etihad Stadium, the Reds found themselves on the end of a chastening reverse - Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish all getting on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Defeat - already Liverpool ’s ninth of the campaign - leaves them languishing in eighth and seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham. It was all the more painful for Jurgen Klop p and co after breaking a poor 12-year record.
