Local casinos raise grievances over online casino licensing in New Zealand

The proposed online gambling laws in New Zealand have generated controversy, and local casino operators are worried about the competitive licensing process that will soon begin.

In an effort to raise about $417 million in gaming duty over the course of four years, the government intends to award 15 licenses to online casino operators through a competitive auction.

The purpose of the proposed regulations is to close current gaps.
