Loot boxes games are being banned in some countries.

Loot boxes are in-game items that can be purchased with real money and can contain random rewards. They have been criticized as a form of gambling, and some countries have started to regulate them.
Recently, the Netherlands ruled that some loot boxes are illegal under gambling laws. And Belgium has also banned some loot boxes. The decisions by these countries might make others make the same decision.

The decisions by Netherlands and Belgium make sense to me. If loot boxes can be bought with real money and you don't know what you'll get, that does sound a bit like gambling. As video games are popular with kids too, there needs to be rules. Maybe other places will follow and regulate loot boxes so players know what they're getting into.
