Lotto counters are removed from supermarkets as in-store sales decline.

Supermarkets are phasing out Lotto counters due to declining in-store sales, with 72 physical stores closed in the past year.

Online purchases surged during the pandemic, now constituting over half of sales. Woolworths removed Lotto counters from 30 stores, citing changing customer needs.

Lotto NZ also reduced physical stores in low-income areas. Despite this, retail sales remain crucial.
