Lottoland requests that the Irish government reconsider gambling reforms.

Lottoland has urged the Irish government to "re-engage with our industry" following a survey indicating that a significant portion of the population opposes excessively rigid gambling reforms. Mike Kirwan, the company's vice president, acknowledged the intent of the Gambling Regulation Bill 2022 to establish strong regulatory oversight and accountability in the Irish gambling sector.

Nevertheless, he highlighted that a Lottoland poll reveals customers' desire for a "sensible approach" that does not impede individuals' capacity to bet responsibly. According to the survey, three quarters of the Irish public are opposed to a complete betting ban in the country, with nearly one fifth (19%) indicating they would seek alternative gambling methods if restrictions were imposed.

The impending bill, currently in its final legislative stage, proposes an advertising ban throughout the day, restrictions on incentives, and a maximum win threshold of €3,000 for specific games. It also suggests a maximum bet limit of €10 for certain games.
