Lower Hutt man forced to relinquish assets after conviction due to illegal gambling

Over $600,000 has been ordered to be forfeited by the Wellington High Court from a Lower Hutt man who was found guilty of money laundering and illegal gambling.

The criminal was charged with high turnover poker games played on both "in person" and online gambling sites. In February 2022, a room equipped to host poker games and $25,700 in cash were discovered during the execution of a search warrant by the District Investigation Authority and Police personnel.
