Macau casinos review cybersecurity following US attacks

Following the hacks on MGM and Caesars, which were widely covered by the media, casino operators in Macau aren't on high alert.

Since gaming resorts account for more than 80 cents of every dollar in taxes paid to the Macau government, casinos are one of the included industries.

Each casino must create a cybersecurity team according to the cybersecurity law. IT security incidents and breaches must be notified right away to the Macau government, and a third party must carry out security evaluations once a year.

This news is concerning but not surprising. As online activity increases, cyber attacks will too. Casinos have a duty to protect customers' data and finances. Stepped up security is sensible given the risk and responsibility involved with handling people's money.

It is of utmost importance to grasp the ever-changing landscape of cyber threats. The emergence of cyberattacks can stem from diverse origins and employ various methods, making it imperative to stay vigilant and well-equipped. Being prepared is key in safeguarding against potential cyber threats.
