In the initial half of 2024, the government of Macau obstructed approximately 36,000 illicit gambling websites.
The official report from the Office of the Secretary for Security and the Macau news media both claim that the illicit gambling websites were posing as the legitimate gaming companies in Macau.
Additionally, in order to combat cross-border syndicates involved in said illegal gambling and other crimes, police forces from Macau, Hong Kong, and the province of Guangdong have established long-term intelligence exchanges and investigative efforts.
