Macau gross gambling revenue for January declines by almost 6% amidst market changes

After a 2.0% decline in December 2024, the decline represents the second consecutive month of year-over-year losses.

Although analysts had predicted a more moderate decline because of the seasonal lead-up to the Lunar New Year, the January 2025 figure is still marginally higher than December.

With factors like decreased VIP play, a shifting regulatory environment, and shifting economic conditions in China influencing market performance, the decline has sparked worries about Macau's recovery trajectory.
