Macau legislators propose bill to tackle crimes pertaining to illegal gambling

On Monday, the Macau government considered enhancing safeguards against gambling-related offenses and toughening up on offenders. Although the bill was introduced in December, it wasn't made public until recently.

Penalties for those found guilty of granting unauthorized loans for gaming inside the city's casinos are part of the comprehensive package. Making such a loan carries a maximum five-year prison sentence. If a loanee accepts money to gamble, they risk the same length of jail time.
