Macau police arrest 5 and seize 585 fake chips at Cotai casino

The Macau Judiciary Police has detained five people on suspicion of defrauding a casino and other players out of at least $230,400.
The 585 counterfeit casino chips, which had a total estimated value of $748,260, led to the arrests.

Authorities were notified of the existence of fake chips in a Cotai casino through a report, which prompted the start of the investigation.

Officers moved quickly and were aided by casino security staff in apprehending five suspected members of the purported scam ring on the spot. Along with the counterfeit chips that were found, the suspects, who ranged in age from 21 to 28, were placed under arrest.
