In order to determine whether psilocybin, the active component of magic mushrooms, can aid in the treatment of gambling addiction in veterans, the Heroic Hearts Project is starting a new study in partnership with experts from the University of Gibraltar. During a week-long retreat in the Netherlands, participants will get guided, therapeutic experiences with psilocybin truffles as part of the study. Gambling addiction disproportionately affects veterans, and the lack of success with established therapies has led to requests for fresh and creative solutions.
