Germany and Austria have already reacted negatively to Malta's attempt to insulate its gambling businesses from litigation originating in other European nations. It has called the European Union's legitimacy into doubt. The Dutch government has now joined the opposition, and the pressure on Malta to repeal the bill is increasing. Following many lawsuits targeting Malta-licensed operations, the country decided to try to create a legislative free pass. If a foreign government tried to sue one in a Maltese courtroom, the judge may dismiss the case before it even started.
